“There are no major changes to this year’s licensing regulations, except for one or two additional criteria.”
That’s what Elchin Mammadov, head of the AFFA Licensing Group, told Idman.biz.
Mammadov provided an update on the current status of the licensing process for Azerbaijani football clubs. According to him, the process is nearing completion:
“Most of the work is already done. We’re now receiving the final financial documents, and the clubs are working on addressing minor shortcomings in those documents.”
The group leader also noted that clubs from the First Division (I Liga) are actively involved in the licensing process:
“Since they’ve gained some experience, they understand the system well and approach the process with more responsibility. All 10 clubs in the First Division have applied for licensing to maintain their league positions. As for those applying to the Premier League, we will announce the numbers and details on the day of the meeting.”
The AFFA Licensing Commission meeting is scheduled for May 8.
