Bahlul Mustafazada, defender for the Azerbaijan national team and Qarabag FK, is set to leave the Aghdam-based club and return to Gabala.
The 28-year-old will join Gabala FC during the upcoming transfer window on a season-long loan, as per Idman.biz.
Despite being under contract with Qarabag until 2027, Mustafazade will spend the 2025/26 season with the club where he began his professional career.
The move comes amid reported tensions between Mustafazade and Qarabağ head coach Gurban Gurbanov. Following Qarabag’s 12th league title, clinched with a victory over Sabah FC, Gurbanov congratulated all players in the dressing room — except Mustafazade, raising speculation of internal issues.
Mustafazada is expected to play a key role for Gabala as he returns to his former team for the upcoming season.
