Sumgayit's Ecuadorian midfielder Jordan Rezabala recently gave an interview to the media in his home country, discussing his experience in Azerbaijan and the league's level of competition.
- How do you feel after moving to Azerbaijan?
- I feel great here. I think the team is happy with me too. We've even discussed the possibility of extending my contract with management. However, I believe it’s a bit early to talk about this, given that the season only started in August.
- What is the league level like here?
- It's a very competitive league that offers opportunities to participate in European tournaments. Fortunately, I’ve had the chance to play in the Conference League.
- When does your contract with Sumgayit expire?
- I'll be in Azerbaijan until June of next year.
- Have you received offers from clubs in other leagues?
- Yes, many people have reached out to me. Although informal, they inquired about my contract status. Naturally, I couldn’t agree to anything as I have an agent and a contract that I respect.
- At one time, you received an offer from Barcelona (Ecuador)…
- Yes, that was when I was playing well in Guayaquil. I spoke with Barcelona officials but realized that I wouldn’t have many opportunities to play, despite my consistency. There were also many players in my position. My father is a loyal Barcelona fan, and when I told him about their interest, he said, “You should consider everything, especially whether you’ll get playing time or not.”
