Estonian national team striker, Sergei Zenjov, who played for Gabala FC from 2015 to 2017, shared his thoughts with Idman.biz ahead of the match against Azerbaijan.
Zenjov recalled their previous defeat against Azerbaijan, stating that the team is eager to make amends:
"We clearly remember losing our last game against Azerbaijan (0:2). We have to make up for that in front of our fans. That's why we're hoping for a positive result this time. I think the Azerbaijan national team hasn’t changed much since that game. So, we expect a tough match against a strong opponent," Zenjov emphasized.
The 35-year-old football player recalled the two seasons he spent in Azerbaijan: "The best memories... The country, the city, the people - everything was great. It is a pity that we could not become champions. The results in Europe were good, we played in the group two seasons in a row. Both the team and our coach were good."
Zenjov, who currently wears the jersey of Tallinn Flora, scored 17 goals in 113 games for the Estonian national team. He was also invited to the upcoming match with Azerbaijan.
