Elshad Guliyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team in mini football, told Idman.biz.
The experienced specialist commented on the draw for EURO-2024, which will be held on April 4. According to him, there are very strong opponents in the second pot: "We would like more “same-level” opponents to leave the group. This is the first target. Nationals in the second pot are very strong. Portugal and Spain are in the 3rd and 4th baskets. We wouldn't want to be in a group with them."
The European Champion also announced his main goals in the continental championship: "The Azerbaijan Mini-football League is going very well. It is also a positive thing that the championship lasts so long. The players play every week and stay in shape. This is a great advantage for us. An international tournament awaits us in Montenegro at the end of April and beginning of May. We will work there tactically and technically and try to eliminate the shortcomings. Since we are the last European champions, we want to play at least the final. We have built our plans on it."
It should be noted that the European Championship will be held on June 1-9 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Azerbaijan was placed in the 1st pot in the draw.
