Sabah midfielder Veljko Simic has commented on his team's 4-0 defeat to Manchester United in the opening round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
"Of course, losing 4-0 is never pleasant. But I think this is a great experience for us," Simic said after the match, İdman.Biz reports.
According to the Serbian footballer, the game at Old Trafford showed Sabah what they need to improve when competing at the highest level.
"It was useful in terms of seeing what kind of mistakes we cannot afford to make at this level. I believe we will improve during this tournament," Simic told AZERTAC.
The midfielder also stressed that Sabah could take some positives from the match despite the heavy defeat.
"There are some positive things we can take from this game. But, as I said, in a competition at this highest level, we have to avoid some simple mistakes, especially those we make in our own half, and try to be more productive in attack," he added.
Sabah are making their debut in the Champions League league phase this season. The Baku club will continue their campaign against Slavia Prague at home on October 13.
