Azerbaijan Prime Minister hails Turkey and Uzbekistan World Cup qualification

Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has praised the national teams of Turkey and Uzbekistan after their qualification for the FIFA World Cup, describing their achievements as historic for the wider Turkic community.

Speaking at a meeting of heads of government and vice-presidents of member states of the Organization of Turkic States in Baku, Asadov highlighted Turkey’s return to the global stage after a long absence.

“On March 31, the Turkey national team secured a place at the World Cup after defeating Kosovo, returning to the tournament after 24 years. We congratulate brotherly Turkey on this historic achievement,” he said, as reported by İdman.Biz.

He also pointed to Uzbekistan’s milestone, noting that the team had qualified for the World Cup for the first time in its history, with the achievement secured back in June last year.

“Both results can be considered a victory for the entire Turkic world,” Asadov added, emphasising the broader significance of these sporting successes.

According to the Azerbaijani Prime Minister, such achievements reflect a wider rise of Turkic nations across multiple fields, including sport, and underline growing competitiveness on the international stage.
