Former Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has shared details about his move to the Spanish league during his playing career.
The 50-year-old former midfielder admitted that there was always only one option for him in Spain – Real Madrid. Beckham said that at the time Manchester United were ready to sell him to Barcelona, and he learned that the Catalan club’s offer had already been accepted while he was on vacation, reports Idman.Biz.
Beckham noted that the news came as a complete surprise to him, after which he immediately made it clear to the club’s management that if a transfer were to happen, he would only consider a move to Real Madrid. He stressed that he did not see any alternative to the Madrid club. Around a day and a half later, Real Madrid took concrete steps to complete the transfer, which eventually went through.
It is worth recalling that David Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Milan and PSG, and after ending his playing career became the owner of Inter Miami.
