Turkish prosecutors have ordered the detention of 29 people as part of a criminal investigation into illegal betting on football matches.
According to Idman.Biz, the detainees include 14 current and former footballers.
One of the most high-profile figures in the case is former Galatasaray vice president Erden Timur, who held an executive position at the Istanbul club from 2022 to 2024.
Earlier, the Turkish Football Federation launched a large-scale investigation related to illegal betting. The case involves several hundred referees and more than a thousand players who are suspected of having links to betting on matches in which they themselves participated.
