Nigeria defeated Tanzania 2:1 in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Idman.Biz, Nigeria’s goals were scored by Ajayi and Lookman. Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen was substituted in the 86th minute and made way for Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu.
Osimhen’s reaction after leaving the pitch quickly became a major topic of discussion across Africa. It is reported that following the substitution, the forward entered into a brief exchange with Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle. As Chelle attempted to walk away, he grabbed Osimhen by the arm, pulled him back and said something to him.
The moment was captured by African journalist Mikki Jnr and shared on social media. The post read: “Victor Osimhen is taken off and is clearly unhappy with the decision. It was a frustrating evening for the striker, who failed to score against Tanzania’s third-choice goalkeeper at the tournament. It was one of those nights when nothing seemed to go right”.
