Napoli forward Romelu Lukaku has been included in the club’s squad announced for the Italian Super Cup.
According to İdman.Biz, the Belgian striker, who has been sidelined for four months due to injury, has traveled with the team to Riyadh, where the Super Cup matches will be held.
Lukaku will be at the disposal of head coach Antonio Conte for the tournament taking place between December 18 and 22. He has also been named in the squad for Thursday’s semifinal match against Milan.
The Belgian forward suffered a serious left thigh injury in a friendly match against Olympiacos in August. After a lengthy rehabilitation process, Lukaku has returned to team training, but his physical condition is still not considered ideal, and his comeback is being planned cautiously.
As a result, Lukaku may miss the semifinal against Milan or watch the match from the stands. A more realistic scenario is that he will start on the bench and could appear on the pitch in the final on December 22, should Napoli advance, after additional training sessions.
Antonio Conte does not want to rush the process, but he is well aware of how important Lukaku’s presence in Riyadh could be for Napoli, who are looking to bounce back after defeats to Benfica and Udinese.
