Jude Bellingham urges Real Madrid to stay patient after defeat to Manchester City

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham commented on the team’s painful defeat to Manchester City in the sixth round of the Champions League main stage, acknowledging that the squad will need to “be patient” to return to their best level.

According to Idman.Biz, the match at the Santiago Bernabéu ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Real Madrid opened the scoring through Rodrygo, but before halftime goals from Nico O’Reilly and a penalty converted by Erling Haaland turned the game around. The defeat increased pressure on head coach Xabi Alonso, who has won only two of the team’s last eight matches.

Bellingham emphasized his full support for Alonso:

“One hundred percent. The coach has been brilliant. I have a great relationship with him, and many of the guys would say the same. No one is going to give up. We have to accept the setbacks, keep fighting and move forward,” TNT Sports quoted the midfielder as saying.

According to Bellingham, the downturn in results is linked to how the team manages the flow of games:

“In moments when we need to endure, we often concede, and that puts us in a difficult position. But in the dressing room we have everything we need to turn the situation around”.

Meanwhile, Spanish media continue to speculate about a possible dismissal of Alonso. Reports suggest strained relationships with several key players, including Vinícius Júnior. The coach himself brushes off questions about his future:

“I’m worried about the next match. The important thing is Real Madrid, the team, and how I can help them. It’s not about me”.

Real Madrid will have their next chance to bounce back on Sunday in the match against Alavés.
