Idman.Biz reports, citing AFFA’s official website, that these words were spoken by the head coach of the Azerbaijan women’s national football team, Siyasat Asgarov, after their match against the local team (2–1) during the “FIFA Tri Nations Women’s Football Series 2025” tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
“The people here also welcomed us warmly. As for the match, our opponent was quite strong. In my opinion, they should have beaten Malaysia in their first game. A single mistake decided that match. The Bangladesh team also prepared well for the game against us and wanted to win. In the first 15 minutes, they applied pressure all over the field and gave us a hard time. They are a team known for their unique counter-attacking football, and they showed that in the game. Even though we scored first, we conceded shortly after because they were doing everything to score. In the second half, they played even better. However, our defenders performed successfully and blocked the opponent’s attacks. We made changes to our game plan and used substitutions, which paid off. I think both teams played an exciting match, and the fans in the stadium were not disappointed. It was a celebration for women’s football. Both the Bangladesh Football Federation and AFFA gained from this celebration,” he said.
It is worth noting that after victories over Malaysia (2–0) and Bangladesh (2–1), our national team became the champion of the “FIFA Tri Nations Women’s Football Series 2025” tournament.
