"Children are living very difficult lives now. They could be dreaming of Mars and other planets. Now is not the time for war," said Arda Turan, head coach of Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk, during a press conference ahead of the UEFA Conference League match against Shamrock Rovers, Idman.Biz reports.
Turan addressed global leaders during the conference:
"I have great respect for the Ukrainian people. When I arrived, there were bombings. Drones are already not a problem for Ukrainians. If asked, I could list 100 negative things, but I am changing my perspective because of these people. From here, I want to appeal to world leaders — maybe Trump, maybe Putin, maybe Erdoğan, maybe Zelensky… If you spend one day in Kyiv, maybe then we can talk about football. I love the Ukrainian people and my players. I am here for them, and I consider all Ukrainians my family," he said.
The Shamrock Rovers vs Shakhtar Donetsk match in the UEFA Conference League is scheduled for today at 23:59 Baku time.
