Former England forward Wayne Rooney has criticized the referee’s performance in the 11th round Premier League match, in which Liverpool suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat to Manchester City.
According to Idman.biz, in the 38th minute, referee Chris Kavanagh disallowed a goal by the visiting defender Virgil van Dijk for a foul on the goalkeeper.
“The Van Dijk goal should have stood. I don’t think Andy Robertson blocked Donnarumma during the jump. The Manchester City goalkeeper had a full view of the ball, so in my opinion, it was the wrong decision,” Rooney told Liverpool Echo.
After 11 rounds, Liverpool sits in eighth place with 18 points. Manchester City has 22 points and occupies second place, four points behind league leaders Arsenal.
