As part of an investigation into illegal football betting in Turkiye, arrest warrants have been issued for 21 suspects, including 17 referees and the president of a Super League club.
According to Idman.Biz, citing Turkish media, the information was released by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The official statement noted that the investigation is assessing whether the referees, as public officials, violated their professional duties through betting activities. The inquiry also examines the financial value of these matches, the income referees allegedly obtained from such activities, and how it compares to their official earnings.
