Liverpool interested in Bayern midfielder as potential Salah successor

Agdam’s Qarabag’s UEFA Champions League rival, Liverpool, is showing interest in Bayern Munich and France midfielder Michael Olise. The English club reportedly considers him an alternative to Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo.

Idman.Biz, citing Daily Mail, reports that negotiations for Semenyo have stalled after his transfer valuation exceeded £75 million.

Liverpool’s management is currently searching for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. Although the 33-year-old Egyptian forward remains a key figure under Arne Slot and is under contract until 2027, the club is already planning for the future and potential squad renewal.

Olise, who transferred from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich in 2024, has quickly become one of the German club’s standout players. Last season, the French international scored 20 goals, provided four assists, and made his debut for the national team. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl stated that Olise’s contract runs until 2029 and contains no release clause, adding that the club has no intention of selling him.

Olise featured for France in their 3–0 victory over Azerbaijan in Paris during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Although he didn’t score, he received high praise from experts. The Bayern player may also feature in the return match against Azerbaijan, scheduled for November 16, 2025, in Baku.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will face Qarabag in the Champions League group stage. Gurban Gurbanov’s side is set to visit the Merseyside club on January 28, 2026.
