Stavros Dimostenous, president of Cypriot football club Karmiotissa, was shot on the Limassol highway, reports Idman.Biz citing Knews.
Preliminary information indicates that the assailant was riding a motorcycle and opened fire on Dimostenous’s car.
Significant police forces arrived at the scene, closing a large section of the highway. Law enforcement confirmed that the killing was deliberate, and an investigation is underway to locate the perpetrator. Authorities are reconstructing the timeline of the attack using CCTV footage and witness statements.
Dimostenous, 49, had led Karmiotissa since 2023. Last season, the club failed to maintain its position in the top division and was relegated to the second-tier league.
