Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has stated that U.S. President Donald Trump will not be able to move the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches from the suburb of Foxborough, Idman.Biz reports, citing Reuters.
“Much of this is bound by contracts, so no single person — even one currently living in the White House — can undo it,” Wu emphasized.
Earlier, Trump said he might call FIFA President Gianni Infantino to propose relocating the matches if “conditions are unsafe,” claiming that Infantino would “easily agree” to such a decision.
Previously, the U.S. President had also suggested the possibility of moving World Cup matches from Seattle and San Francisco.
