Germany’s Schalke 04 faced controversy during their friendly match against Bohemians in Dublin, Ireland.
Idman.Biz, citing Bild, reports that British photographers Carly Clark and Steven Lovell-Davis were attacked while photographing Schalke supporters marching through the city streets. Fans reportedly knocked Lovell-Davis to the ground and struck him.
Clark stated that the “Ultras” objected to being photographed, creating panic during the incident.
The matter has been handed over to the police. In an official statement, Schalke described the events as “unacceptable” and confirmed that those responsible would be punished. Clark added in response that the incident reflected the behavior of a small number of fans and harmed the club’s image.
