Forward Lionel Messi has rejoined training with the Argentina national team.
Idman.Biz, citing the team’s official account on X, reports that the 38-year-old captain was called up for Argentina’s October friendlies against Venezuela and Puerto Rico. However, he did not take part in the first match, which took place in Miami and ended with a narrow 1–0 victory for Argentina.
Head coach Lionel Scaloni explained that the decision to leave Messi out of the squad for the first game was based on “current circumstances.”
The Argentine Football Association emphasized in an official statement that Messi’s return to training will allow the coaching staff to “work on key aspects” and properly prepare for the second friendly.
Messi is expected to feature in the upcoming match against Puerto Rico, scheduled for the night of October 14–15.
