“We were able to withstand the opponent’s intensive attacks in the first half, we didn’t leave gaps in defense, and we built our own attacks.”
Idman.Biz reports that these words were spoken by Rashad Eyyubov, head coach of the Azerbaijan U-21 national football team.
Commenting on the match against the Czech Republic in Karviná, which ended 0:5 in the European Championship qualifiers, he also said at the press conference:
“We conceded the first goal shortly before halftime, even though until that moment the opponent hadn’t done anything unusual. However, in the second half, especially after the 55th minute, we couldn’t withstand their intensity.”
Eyyubov noted that the team has a maximum of 4–5 days to prepare for a game:
“Still, I don’t think the problem is related to physical condition. We just struggle to compete at the same pace.”
It should be noted that our U-21 team will play its next match at home against Scotland on October 14.
