The Azerbaijani amputee football team aims to finish first in the C division of the 2025 Nations League, head coach Ramil Habibov told Report.
Habibov said the squad is currently in Turkey for a training camp: “We are holding friendly matches here. Four games have already taken place. There is a noticeable improvement between the first and the latest match. Our players are performing well. Ninety-five percent of our 18-player squad are veterans. They became disabled in the early 1990s, during ceasefire periods, and in the Patriotic War. Our goals are clear. Since the tournament is being held in Azerbaijan, we will fight only for first place, and we are progressing toward that.”
The C division matches will take place from October 17–19 at the ASCO Arena. Azerbaijan will face Belgium, Israel, Ukraine, and the Netherlands.
