Mbappe stresses focus on Azerbaijan ahead of France’s World Cup qualifier

“Before turning our attention to Iceland, we must take the match against Azerbaijan seriously. Every game has its own reality, and we need to win tomorrow,” said France national team forward Kylian Mbappe at a press conference ahead of their World Cup 2026 qualifier in Paris against Azerbaijan.

Idman.Biz reports that the 27-year-old highlighted Azerbaijan’s recent draw with Ukraine in the final round of the qualifiers in Baku: “This match is no less important than the one against Iceland. Our goal is to secure a spot at the World Cup. We must fight until qualification is guaranteed.”

Mbappe expressed his readiness to play and confidence in scoring against any opponent: “I want to play tomorrow, and the coach has no objections. I don’t anticipate any serious issues, I feel good. Today I will train, which will be the final preparation before the game. I have no particular concerns.”

The France vs. Azerbaijan match will take place on October 10 at the Parc des Princes, starting at 22:45 Baku time.
