A masterclass was organized at the Azerbaijan Chess Federation for the winners and prize-winners of the national youth championship.
Champions and prize-winners in the 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 age categories of the Azerbaijan Championship took part in the event, Idman.biz reports.
Speaking at the event, the president of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Mahir Mammadov, emphasized that the federation attaches great importance to the development of young chess players and implements various projects in this direction.
In the first masterclass, national team member Aydin Suleymanli shared his experience with the youngsters. Talking about his career, the national team chess player spoke to the children about the secrets of overcoming pre-competition nerves and focusing on the opponent.
Suleymanli highlighted the importance of discipline in chess and stressed the need for proper rest during intense training. At the end of the event, he analyzed several games and answered the children’s questions.
Suleymanli is a world champion (U-14), two-time European champion (U-8 and U-12), and a winner of the World Chess Olympiad among U-16 players. The national team member also won the gold medal at the 2024 Azerbaijan Championship.
