The international tournament “Vugar Gashimov Open 2025,” organized by the Vugar Gashimov Chess Foundation, is ongoing in Baku.
After six rounds, the competition for the prizes has intensified, Idman.biz reports.
Four participants, Tunar Davudov, Shiroghlan Talibov, Vugar Manafov, and Ahmad Ahmadzada, have each scored 5.5 points and are jointly leading the standings.
It is highly likely that the battle for the grand prize will take place among them in the remaining two rounds.
The tournament has been included in the “Chess Tour Azerbaijan” project, implemented for the first time at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The event, held for the 11th time, features 206 chess players from 6 countries.
