Tomorrow, the World Rapid Chess Championship using the Swiss system, consisting of 12 rounds, will begin in London.
According to Idman.biz, 53 teams will compete in the event.
Among the 144 grandmasters is Azerbaijan’s representative Rauf Mammadov.
He is part of the "Freedom" team, which also includes Viswanathan Anand (India), Le Quang Liem (Vietnam), Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine), and others, with Emil Sutovsky serving as the captain.
The Rapid World Championship will take place from June 11 to 13, followed by the Blitz World Championship on June 14-15. Initially, participants will be divided into four groups, after which the top 16 teams will compete in a knockout format for the trophy.
