Azerbaijani chess player nears Top 10 in Dubai

Azerbaijani chess player Mahammad Muradli has improved his standing at the ongoing Dubai Open tournament in the UAE.

Muradli bounced back after two consecutive losses by defeating Indian player Akshay Borgaonkar in the eighth round, Idman.biz reports.

With 5.5 points, he has climbed to 15th place in the standings. Notably, he is just half a point behind the top four players, keeping his chances of finishing in the top 10 alive if he secures a strong result in the final round.

The tournament leader is Alexey Grebnev (FIDE) with 6.5 points.
