"It was a tough game. There were a lot of calculations."
Idman.biz reports that Fabiano Caruana, representing the USA, said this while commenting on his victory over the Azerbaijani chess player in the second round of the Candidates Tournament held in Toronto.
Nijat, the rating favorite of the competition, highlighted the luck factor in his victory: "I think I got a bit of lucky break at the end because he collapsed in a very surprising way by taking on b3. I felt like I am much better. It’s very complicated and kind of advantage that if you make one mistake then it completely slips away."
It should be noted that this was Abasov's first defeat in the tournament.
