The well-known Chess.com portal has published a ranking of the highest prize money earners in the history of chess.
According to Idman.Biz, the list takes into account only tournaments with a prize fund exceeding 10,000 dollars. Among the players featured are Azerbaijani grandmasters Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Teimour Radjabov.
Mamedyarov has earned a total of 1,781,988 dollars in prize money, including 38,639 dollars in 2025. Radjabov, in turn, has collected 1,117,290 dollars, with 6,275 dollars earned last year.
As for the overall top three, Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen leads the ranking with total prize earnings of 12,232,249 dollars, including 1,455,276 dollars in 2025. India’s Viswanathan Anand is second with 9,551,844 dollars, while 13th world champion Garry Kasparov ranks third with 8,045,979 dollars.
It is noted that the ranking was compiled based on results as of December 31, 2025.
