Azerbaijani chess players who achieved strong results at international tournaments, as well as at the European and World Championships, were honored at the end of the season, Idman.Biz reports.
According to Idman.Biz, the award ceremony took place during an event dedicated to the results of 2025, organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation at the Republican Chess Center in Baku.
The awards were presented by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Mahir Mammadov, Vice President of the federation Faig Hasanov, and Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov.
In addition, individuals who made a significant contribution to the development of chess in the country were also recognized.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan’s men’s national team won silver medals at the European Championship, while the women’s national team claimed silver at the World Championship.
