Azerbaijani chess player Turkan Mamedyarova said that her victory in the national rapid and blitz championship had a positive impact on her children and became a special achievement for her, İdman.Biz reports.
The grandmaster noted that the tournament, in which she scored 13 points and finished in first place, was especially meaningful to her.
“My impressions are very good. I have already been the champion of Azerbaijan — in classical chess, in blitz, and in various age categories. But in recent years I haven’t had such successes because I dedicated more time to my children,” Report quotes her as saying.
According to Mamedyarova, this latest triumph brought her additional joy.
“The fact that I play well, become a champion, achieve such results has a beautiful influence on my children. They are proud that their mother is a chess player, they are happy. But I’m not stepping away from chess. My son also plays. We often practice together. However, being a mother of three and having a job, I cannot always devote as much time to chess as I would like. Nevertheless, I am not distancing myself from the game.”
The experienced grandmaster also recalled that the Azerbaijani Classical Chess Championship is ahead, and she intends to compete for a high result there as well.
“I will try to achieve a good result there too. In the previous tournament I played well — I passed the first stage but later lost to Govhar Beydullayeva. This time we will also aim for a strong performance,” Mamedyarova added.
