The champions in both the men's and women’s sections of the Azerbaijani Chess championship in rapid and blitz have been determined.
According to Idman.biz, the tournament was held over four days at the Republican Chess Center.
In the women's competition, Türkan Mamedyarova secured first place with a total of 13 points across both disciplines. The same number of points was scored by Melek Ismayil, who finished second based on tiebreak criteria. Laman Hajiyeva took third place with 12 points. Narmin Abdinova and Ayan Allahverdiyeva both scored 11.5 points, sharing 4th and 5th positions.
In the men's section, one of the national team leaders, Raul Mamedov, claimed the championship title with 14 points. Murad Ibrahimli finished second with 13 points. Riad Samedov and Aydin Suleymanli both ended the event with 12.5 points, placing third and fourth respectively. The top five was completed by Magomed Muradli, who scored 11.5 points.
During the closing ceremony, medals and certificates were presented by chief arbiter Lutfiyar Rustamov, Azerbaijan Chess Federation representative Raul Guliyev, and director of the Republican Chess Center Elshan Mamedov.
In total, 32 men and 20 women took part in the championship. Winners were determined by the combined scores of rapid and blitz. The prize fund for both sections amounted to 10,000 AZN. The top three athletes in each category will represent Azerbaijan at the World Championship, scheduled to take place on December 25–31 in Doha, Qatar.
