The participants for the 11th Vugar Hashimov Memorial, to be held in Khankandi, have been confirmed.
Idman.Biz reports that the tournament will be organized by the Vugar Hashimov Chess Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. Six chess players will compete in both rapid and blitz events.
The contenders include Jan Nepomniachtchi (FIDE), Amin Tabatabai (Iran), Vladimir Fedosejev (Slovenia), Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan), Rauf Mammadov, and Aydin Suleymanli. They will face each other in a double-round format.
The memorial, first held in 2014, has been recognized as a qualifying event for the FIDE World Championship since 2023.
