Turkic-Speaking Countries Chess Association holds leadership meeting in Astana

A meeting of the leadership of the Turkic-Speaking Countries Chess Association was held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

According to Idman.Biz, FIDE President Arkadiy Dvorkovich, who delivered the opening speech, emphasized the special role of chess in expanding cultural and sports ties between the countries.

During the meeting, the association’s charter and next year’s calendar were discussed. Proposals regarding the management of the secretariat, including the organization’s financing, were also presented.

The organization, which joined the International Chess Federation last year, is currently headed by the Turkish Chess Federation. From 2026, the chairmanship of the Turkic-Speaking Countries Chess Association will be transferred to the Kazakhstan Chess Federation.

The secretariat of the association has been entrusted to Ilaha Qadimova, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.

It was also noted that Turkiye will host the team chess championship for under-16 players from Turkic-speaking countries in Gaziantep from 6–14 December.
