Azerbaijani boxer Amina Taghi crowned European champion.

Amina Taghi, competing in the 50 kg weight category, has won the gold medal at the Junior European Boxing Championship held in Novi Pazar, Serbia, Idman.biz reports.

In the final bout, Taghi defeated Armenia’s Hamest Afrikyan with a 4:1 decision (29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 27:30, 30:27), claiming the top spot on the podium. The Azerbaijani national anthem was played in her honor at the ceremony in Novi Pazar.

Among the other Azerbaijani female boxers, Jamila Muradli (52 kg), Fidan Bakarova (63 kg), and Sama Abbasova (66 kg) secured silver medals, while Aylin Nazarova (46 kg), Gular Huseynova (48 kg), and Zahra Mammadova (54 kg) earned bronze.

The women's national team concluded the championship with a total of 1 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

Additionally, on the sixth day of the event, Safdar Mammadzada (+80 kg) advanced to the final after a dominant victory over Belarusian Kirill Zhukovsky in the semifinals. He will face Russia’s Bogdan Smolkin in the gold medal bout.

Previously, male boxers Gardash Rahimov (46 kg), Mahammad Rasulov (50 kg), Raul Heydarli (54 kg), Shahin Aslanov (60 kg), and Hakverdi Hasanov (63 kg) secured bronze medals.
