Azerbaijani boxer Sarkhan Aliyev held his 3rd fight at the 1st World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy.
Idman.biz reports that the winner of the World Championship, who tested his strength in the weight of 71 kg, tested Gurgen Madoyan from Armenia in the 1/8 finals.
The battle ended with Aliyev's victory. He won with a score of 3:2 (28:29, 28:29, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27). Thus, following Nijat Huseynov (51 kg), Sarkhan eliminated his Armenian opponent and qualified for the 1/4 finals.
Only 1 victory will be enough for him to have a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympics. Aliyev will test his strength against Kazakhstan's Aslanbek Shimbergenov on the way to the semi-finals.
It should be noted that the 1/4 final matches will be held today.
