Former Kazakh world champion elected President of World Boxing

Former professional world boxing champion from Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin, has become the president of the international sports organization World Boxing.

Idman.Biz reports, citing the organization’s press service, that the presidential elections were held at a congress in Rome, Italy. Golovkin’s term will last three years.

“It is a great honor for me to be elected as the new president of World Boxing. And this is just the beginning. From today onward, athletes will be at the center of every decision made. On the road to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, we will restore trust in Olympic boxing. The time has come to move forward as one boxing family,” Golovkin commented.
