Three more Azerbaijani boxers advance to semifinals at U-15 European Championship - PHOTO

Three more Azerbaijani boxers have advanced to the next stage of the U-15 European Championship taking place in Budva, Montenegro.

Idman.Biz, citing the Boxing Federation’s press service, reports that on the fifth day of the competition, Eljan Musazada (50 kg) faced Tobias Vicenik (Czech Republic) in the quarterfinals.

The Azerbaijani boxer earned his third consecutive win with a score of 5:0 (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:26, 30:27). Musazada will meet Shane Keat (England) in the semifinals.

Yusif Agakishiyev (75 kg) also triumphed in his quarterfinal bout, defeating Giorge Bratu (Romania) in just 45 seconds. Securing a dominant victory, Agakişiyev will now face Oleksandr Tomic (Ukraine) in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Mehran Rasulov (80 kg) overcame Giorgi Guledani (Georgia) with a unanimous 5:0 score (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). His next opponent will be Valeri Todorov (Bulgaria).

By reaching the semifinals, all three Azerbaijani athletes have guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals. Earlier, two other male and two female boxers from the national team had also secured this right.

Quarterfinal bouts at the European Championship continue today.

The tournament, featuring 369 athletes from 32 countries, will conclude on October 25. The girls’ semifinals will take place on October 23, followed by the boys’ semifinals the next day.
