Three more Azerbaijani boxers have advanced to the next stage at the U-15 European Championship held in Budva, Montenegro.
According to the Press Service of the Boxing Federation, on the third day of the tournament, Onur Qurbanov (42 kg) faced Arkan Zoubi (Israel) in the quarterfinals. Qurbanov won the bout 5:0 (29:29, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28), securing at least a bronze medal. He will next fight Mason Long (England) on October 24 on his way to the final.
Sarkhan Haqverdiyev (63 kg) defeated Rikardo Karabash (Austria) in the round of 16 in just 57 seconds, winning decisively. He will face David Yuldashev (Ukraine) in the quarterfinals.
Nurlan Museyibli (66 kg) also ended his round of 16 match against Mikhail Nikolayenko (Israel) in the first round with a decisive victory. He will compete against Vladimir Versesjan (Estonia) in the quarterfinals.
Both Haqverdiyev and Museyibli will compete in their quarterfinal matches on October 23.
The championship features 369 athletes from 32 countries and will conclude on October 25.
