Five more Azerbaijani boxers have secured places in the quarterfinals at the U-15 European Championship in Budva, Montenegro.
Idman.Biz, citing the Boxing Federation’s press service, reports that:
Babek Abdullayev (40 kg) defeated Unai Lopes Casali (Spain) 5:0 (29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27) in the round of 16. He will face Ethan Munro (Scotland) in his next match.
Onur Gurbanov (42 kg) prevailed over Mikolaj Rondos (Poland) 4:1 (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 28:29, 30:27) and will test his strength against Arkan Zoubi (Israel) in the quarterfinals.
Vagif Mammadli (44 kg) also won his bout against Kristian Varadi (Hungary) and will meet Thomas Katanac (England) in the quarterfinals.
Eljan Musazade (50 kg) secured his second victory of the tournament, defeating Vladimir Khvistanidze (Georgia) 5:0 (30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). He will face Tobias Vicenik (Czech Republic) on the path to the semifinals.
Amid Alakberov (60 kg) ended his fight early, defeating Maksim Stets (Estonia) in the second round. Alakberov will face Ismail Ismailov (Ukraine) in the quarterfinals.
The European Championship, featuring 369 athletes from 32 countries, will conclude on October 25.
