“Our team was well-prepared for this competition,” said Bilalhabasi Nazarov, who won the U-19 European Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic, making history in Azerbaijani boxing.
Idman.Biz reports that speaking to journalists, Nazarov emphasized that he is not satisfied with his current achievements: “The medals we won speak for themselves. I fought four matches and won them all. In the final, I defeated an Italian athlete to become European champion for the second time. Last year, the European Youth Championship was held in Croatia, and I also claimed the champion title there. My main goal in this competition was to defend my title. I succeeded, but of course, I will not stop here. Next year, I will compete at the senior level. My main objective is to win an Olympic medal. I want to train harder and replicate my results among seniors as well.”
The 18-year-old athlete is now the first Azerbaijani boxer to earn the title of double European champion.
