Bilalhabasi Nazarov has entered the history of Azerbaijani boxing.

According to Idman.Biz, citing the press service of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, the 18-year-old national team athlete achieved this success at the U-19 European Championship held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

He became the first Azerbaijani boxer to win the European champion title twice among juniors. A year ago, Nazarov, who earned the title of the continent’s best in Porec, Croatia, remained undefeated in Ostrava as well, climbing to the top of the podium for the second consecutive time. The Astara Boxing School graduate won both gold medals under the guidance of the national team’s head coach, Elbrus Rzayev.

The European Championship in the Czech Republic was also remarkable for our female boxers. For the first time in the country’s history, our team won medals, two at once. Under head coach Ilkin Agayev, Banucicak Nasirli (48 kg) won silver, and Ilkana Ahmadova (+80 kg) took bronze.

At the U-19 European Championship, the Azerbaijani team broke a 16-year medal drought by winning five medals. This milestone came after 13 continental championships.

Additionally, Zidan Humbatov (55 kg) and Subhan Babayev (60 kg) also won medals for the national team, finishing in third place.
