The quarterfinal matches of the U-19 European Boxing Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic, have concluded.
According to Idman.biz, on the second day of the stage, another Azerbaijani athlete advanced to the semifinals.
Zidan Humbatov (55 kg) defeated Sasha Mencaroni (Italy) – 5:0 (30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27). He will face Riza Muhammed Safari (England) in the semifinals.
With this semifinal advancement, the number of Azerbaijani boxers guaranteed at least a bronze medal has risen to five. Bilalhabasi Nazarov (50 kg), Subhan Babayev (60 kg), and Banuchicak Nasirli (48 kg) will fight for the finals on October 7, while Ilkana Ahmadova (+80 kg) and Humbatov will compete in their semifinals the following day.
October 6 is a rest day at the European Championship.
