The U19 European Boxing Championship has begun in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
According to Idman.biz, two Azerbaijani boxers won their matches on the first day of the competition.
In the 70 kg category, Rza Rzayev faced Gleb Herdt (Israel) in the round of 32, defeating him 5:0 (30:26, 30:25, 30:27, 30:26, 30:26). Rzayev will face Akaki Basariya (Georgia), who received a bye in the first round, in his next bout.
Abbasqulu Shadlinski (75 kg) also started the championship with a victory. He defeated Gerasimos Tzavaros (Greece) 5:0 (29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27) in the round of 32. In his second fight, Shadlinski will face Ahmed Kocini (Albania), who had a first-round bye.
Both Azerbaijani boxers will compete in the round of 16 on October 2.
The European Championship will conclude on October 9.
