The opponent of the Absheron Lions basketball club in the first qualifying round of the European Cup has been determined.
This was decided during the regular season draw held in Munich, the capital of Germany, Idman.biz reports.
As a result of the draw, the Abşeron representative will face Cyprus's Anorthosis club. If Absheron Lions win, they will join Group H, where they will face Casademont (Zaragoza, Spain), Falco (Hungary), and Bakken Bears (Denmark).
Baku’s Neftchi club will compete in the group stage of the European Cup. The finalist of the Azerbaijan Basketball League will be placed in Group I, where they will face Kalev/Cramo (Estonia), Bursaspor (Turkiye), and Trefl (Poland).
The qualifying round matches of the European Cup will be held on September 24 and October 1. The dates of the regular season matches will be announced later.
Absheron Lions finished fourth in the Azerbaijan Basketball League in the 2024/2025 season.
