The head coach of the Turkish minifootball national team, Durul Tug, has named Azerbaijan as the main favorite of the World Championship being held in Baku.
Idman.biz reports that the coach expressed this opinion in an interview with Report:
“I think Azerbaijan is the main favorite of the World Championship. I’m not saying this because I’m Turkish. This team and their fans truly deserve to become champions. Serbia and Romania may also be considered favorites,” Tug emphasized.
He also praised the tournament's organization:
“The organization of the World Championship in Azerbaijan has been extremely successful. Everything has been taken seriously and treated with great care. All 32 teams participating in the tournament feel valued. That’s the best compliment I can give to the championship held in Azerbaijan.”
Regarding his own team’s performance, Tug added:
“We could have played better. We’re a new team and will work hard to improve. We still have shortcomings. But it’s been an extremely valuable experience for us.”
Turkiye was eliminated after a 0:3 loss to England in the final (3rd) round of the group stage.
