The coaching lineup for Azerbaijan’s youth basketball national teams has been finalized, as preparations begin for the lower divisions of the U16 and U18 European Championships.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams in these age categories have kicked off their training camps, Idman.biz reports.
The coaching staff for the U18 teams remains unchanged:
Boys’ U18 head coach: Anar Sariyev
Assistant coach: Polad Hasanov
Girls’ U18 head coach: Evren Alkaya
Assistant coach: Aygun Eynullayeva
Changes have been made to the U16 teams:
Boys’ U16 head coach: Erhan Toker (Turkiye)
Assistant coaches: Anar Hajiyev and Rustam Aliyev
Toker recently had a successful season with Absheron club and was crowned European Champion with Turkey's U-20 team in 2014.
Girls’ U16 Head Coach: Ferhat Akcan (Turkiye)
Assistant Coach: Aygun Eynullayeva
Akcan previously served as assistant coach at Turkish club Ormanspor.
The newly appointed coaches bring a mix of international success and local experience as Azerbaijan aims to make a mark in European youth basketball.
