Sabah U-19 head coach Adino Mustedanagic has expressed satisfaction with his players' performance despite their 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the third round of the UEFA Youth League league phase.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the coach shared his assessment of the match in an interview with Report.az, highlighting his team's determination against the German opposition.
"You always feel bad when you lose. You feel disappointed because you think you could have done more. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the performance of my players. It was an intense and competitive match throughout the 90 minutes. Borussia managed to score in the 73rd minute," Mustedanagic said.
The Sabah coach also praised Borussia Dortmund's youth development system and the quality of their football.
"Borussia are a huge club with an excellent academy. They play really good football. We had watched their previous matches. They beat Norway's Bodo/Glimt 5-0 and had previously faced Villarreal. Although they lost that match 3-2, I believe they were actually the better team," he explained.
Mustedanagic emphasised that his players had successfully implemented the tactical approach prepared for the encounter.
"Our players fully executed the game plan we had prepared, and I'm pleased with their performance," he added.
Sabah's youth team have endured a difficult start to their UEFA Youth League campaign, suffering three consecutive defeats.
The Azerbaijani side lost 5-0 away to Manchester United in their opening match before falling 3-0 at home to Czech club Slavia Prague in the second round.
Following the 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Sabah U-19 remain without points or a goal after three matches in the competition.
