Araz-Naxçıvan are close to appointing Ukrainian coach Yuriy Maksymov as their new head coach.
As reported by İdman.Biz, several Ukrainian media outlets, citing TaToTake, claim that the 57-year-old has accepted an offer from Araz-Naxçıvan and is expected to take charge of the team in the near future.
Maksymov is no stranger to Azerbaijani football. He coached Keşla in 2017-2018 and led the club to victory in the Azerbaijan Cup in the 2017/18 season.
Araz-Naxçıvan are currently bottom of the 12-team Misli Premier League table, sitting 12th with two points after six rounds. The club parted ways with head coach Javid Huseynov following a disappointing start to the season.
During his coaching career, Maksymov has also worked with clubs including Dnipro-1, Kryvbas, Taraz and Vorskla. His most recent job was at Vorskla, which he left in the summer of 2025. He guided the Poltava side to the Ukrainian Cup final in the 2019/20 season.
Araz-Naxçıvan previously had another Ukrainian specialist in charge earlier this year, with Andriy Demchenko coaching the team from January to May 2026.
